Why we collect your personal information
We hold and process personal data about you to:
|To run the youth theatre and deliver regular drama sessions, productions, theatre trips, residential courses and other arts and youth activities to you||We need this information in order to deliver the service (‘legitimate interest’).|
|To comply with Child Performance Regulations||The law says we have to collect this information. (‘Legal obligation’)|
|To make sure our activities are safe for everyone and to protect your welfare and follow safeguarding procedures||The law says we have to collect this information. (Children’s Acts[1989, 2004, Common Law Duty of Care) (‘Legal obligation’)|
|To monitor our activities and report on them||We need this information in order to deliver and improve the service (‘legitimate interest’).|
|To provide you with accredited qualifications||We need this information in to register you with accreditation providers (‘legitimate interest’).|
|To provide references on behalf of participants||We need this information in order to support your progress to education and employment (‘legitimate interest’).|
|To market opportunities to new and existing participants||We will ask you to sign a consent form.|
We collect some information which is considered especially sensitive (‘Special Category Data’). This includes information about gender, disability and mental health (‘protected characteristics’). We collect this in order to comply with social protection law (the Equalities Act 2010) by ensuring our services are appropriate and accessible to all.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for 10 years after you last come to Mess Up The Mess. This is to comply with our funding agreements and to be able to provide references for you (at your request.)
Sometimes, we may share your information:
- To an employer or education provider requesting a reference for a post or course you have applied for
- With social services and / or police if we are concerned for the safety of you or another young person
- With local authorities in order to comply with the Child Performance Regulations
- With health professionals in a medical emergency
- With organisations that accredit qualifications you achieve at Mess Up The Mess
- If we are legally obliged to (for example by a court order)
We may also share anonymous and aggregated information with our funders and in public documents. We will only do this where there is no risk of an individual person being identified.
Accessing Your Information
You have the right to access any information we have about you. And you have the right to correct any of your personal details.
Objecting To Us
You have the right to object to us processing your information where we are collecting for the purposes of operating the youth theatre, monitoring, providing you with accredited qualifications or providing references. If you object to this processing, we will stop using it for these purposes. You also have the right to request we erase the information we hold on you solely for these purposes.
Sending Information Overseas
We use secure online (‘cloud’) services to store and process your information. These are either based within the European Economic Area, and comply with the security and privacy demands of the General Data Protection Regulation; or based in countries or provided by organisations which have ensured equivalent levels of protection. (An ‘adequacy decision’.)
